This trip will take you from the culture rich capital city of Quito to the grassy highlands, over rocky summits, and to the glacier covered slopes of the country’s volcanoes. We will get to experience it all and get a taste of what Ecuador has to offer. Whether you are looking for your first international climb, or have traveled the globe, Ecuador is a great climbing destination which will leave you with lasting memories and an experience like no other.
For most who travel to Ecuador, this country leaves a lasting impression. The culture is simple yet vibrant, the scenery ranges from rainforest to glacier covered peaks and everything in between, and the hospitality is second to none. Our main objectives will be Cayambe and Chimborazo. These are the 3rd and 1st highest peaks in the country. They are also the coldest point on the Equator as well as the furthest point from the Earth’s center (even farther than Mt. Everest) due to the equatorial bulge. Your Everest Base Camp trek, the world’s most awe inspiring and iconic trek, takes us to the backyard of the world famous Sherpas, the culture of colorful prayer flags and Buddhism, the quaint Namche Bazaar, and Sagarmatha National Park. The Everest Base Camp trek has a reputation of being the grandest walk in the land of the Himalayas. It begins with an inspiring mountain flight to Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla and gets better as you go. This 20-day trek and climb in the heart of the famous Khumbu valley is nothing short of mind-blowing. Peaks over 20,000ft tower over you in every direction as you sip tea in a quaint mountain village. Our trek will take us higher and higher until we near the Tibet border and Everest Base Camp. Everest climbers will be preparing for their summit attempts and the anxious excitement will be buzzing at base camp. Following our visit, we will climb Kala Pattar for unobstructed views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and many more peaks. If you choose, we will then head towards Island Peak Base Camp where we will begin preparations for our own summit attempt on a 20,000ft peak, Island Peak, right next door to Everest. Mt. Rainier is one of America’s premier climbing destinations and the perfect training ground for future mountaineering expeditions around the world. Reaching to a height of 14,410 feet, Mt. Rainier gives you a full on mountaineering experience complete with alpine meadows, glacier travel, high altitude climbing, winter camping, and a walk across a volcanic crater. There is no place like it and it is not to be missed! If you are looking to test your strength and have a big mountain experience, we encourage you to join us on our climb to the roof of the Northwest. This adventure will include 2 days of mountaineering training as well as a summit attempt. No prior mountaineering experience is required. Two nights of lodging are included before the summit attempt.
